In 2010 Michael directed Año Bisiesto, a film that won him the Camera d'Or at Cannes that year, given to the best first feature film.
Michael is currently working on his next movie in Spanish, Napa, part of his Mexican trilogy. He also recently finished a first feature film script destined to the internationnal market, Early Winter with Possibles Média's producer Serge Noël.
Michael Rowe (born in 1971 in the city of Ballarat, Australia) is an Australian Mexican writer director. He first studied English Literature at La Trobe University in Melbourne. After beginning his career as a poet, and then as a playwright, Michael went on a trip to Mexico, a country where he still lives today.
From 1998 to 2009, while working as a journalist, he will also participate in the script development workshop of Vicente Leñero. In 2006 he directed his first short film, Cacahuates, followed by Silencio in 2007.
